The Search Help below is based on using the Quick Search mode. If you are
having problems getting good results, please review a help area below. An
alternative to the Quick Search mode, is using the QuickSpec Product Selection
Guide. To use QuickSpec, just choose the appropriate category (e.g. Fittings,
Valves, etc.) and QuickSpec will guide you in narrowing your selection to
the exact product you are looking for.
Searching by Valin Part Number
Use this search mode if you know the Valin part number. (Most Valin part
numbers are the manufacturer's part number.) If you don't know the entire
part number, you can search for partial part numbers. The search will provide
you with all instances of that partial number sequence. If, for example,
you search for "4-4 b", all part numbers that include "4-4 b" will be displayed.
It is not necessary to include spaces or dashes in the part numbers, and
the search is not case sensitive (upper or lower case).
Searching by Keyword(s)
Use one or more keywords to narrow your search. Since this search is an
"AND" search, which means that each additional keyword will narrow the
search further. Keywords may include product descriptions (e.g. tube fittings,
stainless steel gauges), manufacturer and brand names, or model numbers
(e.g. SQ60 regulator, or PG1 gauges).
Searching by Competitor Part Number
The catalog offers comparable products for a number of competitive products.
Presently, the catalog can supply a comparable product part number for
these competitive brands:

Finding better results
Correct spelling is especially important, since the search engine is matching
the characters you enter to words and phrases contained in the ValinOnline
database. If, for example, you use "guages", instead of "gauges", you
will not get matches. If you put in a part number, the sequence of characters
needs to be correct, even though the part number does not need to be complete.
If, for example, the part number is "4-4 C5BZ-SS"; the search will not
find it if you search for "4-4 CBZ" or "4-4 SS". The search will find
the part number if you try "4-4 C5" or "5BZ-SS" since the characters are
in correct sequence.
Finding fewer results
In the part number search, the best way to reduce the number of results,
is to have as much of the part number entered as possible. If a partial
number is used, you will get all part numbers with that combination and
sequence of characters. For example, searching for "SQ60", will give you
a list of results of all SQ60 regulators in the database. If you search
for "SQ60100", you will get fewer results that are just SQ60 regulators
with 100 psig outlet pressure rating. In a keyword search, you can narrow
your results with more keywords. For example, "brass tube fittings" will
get you fewer results than "tube fittings". "1/4 brass tube fittings"
will narrow the search even further.
Finding more results
In the part number search, the best way to increase the number of results
is to search for a partial part number with fewer characters. For example,
if you search for "SQ60", you will get more results than searching for
"SQ60100". In a keyword search, you can increase your results with fewer
keywords. For example, "tube fittings" will get you more results than
"brass tube fittings".
Finding a specific product
To identify a specific product without knowing the part number, we recommend
using the QuickSpec product selection guide, rather than attempting to
search with Quick Search. QuickSpec allows you to select a main product
category (e.g. Fittings, Valves, etc.), narrowing your search to a specific
subcategory (e.g. Ball Valve, Check Valves, etc.), and then specifying
the product as to its technical attributes (e.g. type, size, materials,
connections, pressure rating, etc.).
