New Technical Bulletin Aids with Replacement of Renco Encoders

Glossary of Encoder Terms
Absolute Encoder
An absolute encoder provides information in the form of unique output for every resolvable movement of motion or shaft rotation.
Aftermarket replacement of encoders for motors is easy with EPC's new Direct Motor Replacement (DMR) encoders. DMR's are "plug-and-play" cross reference replacements for rotary encoders used in many common motor brands.
If you're applying an Encoder Products Company (EPC) incremental encoder within an industrial Ethernet system, you'll need to convert the output signal to a compatible format.
Before you can fully understand how an encoder works, you first need to understand what an encoder is and what it does. An encoder is a sensing device that provides feedback from the physical world; that is, it converts motion to an electrical signal that can be read by some type of control device, such as a counter or PLC.
