Draw Wire Systems With Integrated InclinometerKubler's newly developed draw wire systems C100 and D125 will from now on allow length and inclination measurement with one single device. The plastic housing, the high IP67 protection level and the wide temperature range of -40 to +85 °C ensure confident and long service life in outdoor applications.

Many countries require already today load monitoring systems. The driver cabin allows consulting all measurements at a glance. With its existing products portfolio, Kubler covers many geometric measurements such as e.g. superstructure rotation with a compact multiturn encoder, chassis leveling with an inclinometer, support position with a draw wire sensor, crane arm elevation angle with an inclinometer and crane arm length measurement with a draw wire system.

Crane arm elevation and crane arm extension length require two independent sensors mounted at two different positions. They are either mounted externally on the mast and totally exposed to the weather conditions, or installed inside the telescopic mast. Due to the sometimes tight spaces inside the telescopic mast, this solution is particularly difficult to implement. After systematic evaluation of customer experience and analysis of the existing solutions, Kubler arrived at the clear conclusion that a product had to be developed specifically for this application.

The solution: draw wire system with integrated inclinometer

The newly developed draw wire systems C100 and D125 will from now on allow length and inclination measurement with one single device. The plastic housing, the high IP67 protection level and the wide temperature range ensure long service life in outdoor applications. With a diameter of 0.9 mm, the ring-fastened wire is particularly robust.

This linear measuring system also operates with a wire pull-out angle of up to 10°. Thanks to the compact design and the integrated inclinometer, these draw wire systems are particularly easy to integrate in any existing or new application. Connection is very easy with a 5-pole M12 connector and a supply voltage of 5 to 30 V DC or 9 to 30 V DC.

Suitable for any application

The C100 draw wire system is designed for a measuring length up to 5 m, the D125 up to 10 m. The linearity of respectively ±0.1% and ±0.5% of the measuring range ensures sufficient accuracy. The maximum travel speed of these appliances is 1 m/s. Kubler offers a wide choice of sensor types for configuring the draw wire system, featuring the usual interfaces of this branch (analog, incremental, CANopen, relay output, switching output).

Current safety concepts require the installation of two sensors - redundant sensors. This means overall costs increase, more installation work and space problems. The new C100 and D125 draw wire systems are available as redundant measuring systems and offer for the whole length the advantages of a compact sensor.
