VOGEL Presents Its Innovative MPL Gear Series

At the MDA - Motion, Drive & Automation fair from 8th to 12th April 2013 in Hanover, VOGEL Antriebstechnik will be revealing its new design of fair booth and presenting gearboxes from the new MPL series. With their economic design and high performance, the servo planetary gearboxes are supplementing the already comprehensive range produced by this company in the Swabian region of Germany.

"The well thought-out design and large mechanical load capacity of our new series coupled with high power density are convincing," Emir Erden, Head of Sales at VOGEL Antriebstechnik, explains. "With our new development, we want to do justice to requirements in cost-optimised projects - without any loss of our usual quality or performance," Managing Partner Volker Uhlmann adds. This series of gearboxes is used in numerous areas of application from classic machine and plant construction through printing and packaging technology to automation, robotics and handling.

During development, VOGEL Antriebstechnik paid special attention to the product design, which is becoming more and more important on the market. With its clean shape and smooth surfaces, the MPL series, just like the MPG series before it, is not only doing justice to the increasing demand for an attractive appearance, it also makes top functional properties available. Since any dirt adhesion can be removed easily due to the lack of traps, the series is suitable for use in the food industry. The housing has a protection rating IP64 protecting the inside of the gearbox from dust and splashwater for safe operation and easy cleaning. The gearboxes are also produced with synthetic low-viscosity grease.

The MPL series are high-quality gearboxes with large nominal and acceleration torques as well as high input speeds which are tailor-made to the requirements of modern servo motors. The series with the sizes 050, 100 and 200 has been designed for simple applications in the medium precision and torque range. VOGEL Antriebstechnik is currently supplying the new MPL gearbox series with a one or two-stage transmission ratios and a torque range of between 50 and 220 Nm. The high range of transmission ratios (i = 3 to 100) and the wide range of motor connections available as standard (motor flange and motor shaft connections) allow the versatile use of the servo planetary gearbox. "We set great store in energy efficiency while designing the MPL series," says Jens-Peter Horn, Head of Development at VOGEL. The optimised gearbox series impresses with a high efficiency of up to 97 percent. The backlash of the one-stage version is < 8 and of the two-stage version < 10 angular minutes. Modern industrial design and the greatest possible compactness round off the well thought-out overall concept of the MPL series and allow its use even in tight spots which are difficult to access. They can be mounted both vertically and horizontally. 

For the MPL series, VOGEL Antriebstechnik uses precision-ground gear materials of the very best quality. The grinding process and its results are checked continually and automatically, with correction of the necessary parameters. This means that constant and best possible grinding results are achieved. Production and assembly are carried out according to the highest quality criteria. Continuous checks and high quality standards offer the customer maximum reliability.
